RST-5
Water-based mould cleaner for composite shops
A water-based concentrate that replaces acetone across a composite shop — from cleaning tools and rollers to degreasing moulds. It does not dissolve the contamination the way a solvent does: it breaks the bond to the substrate and the polymer chains, so the material lifts off and rinses away. Solvent-free, non-flammable and odourless, so the shop needs neither extraction nor flammables storage. It works on uncured resin, epoxy, adhesive, paint, oil and grease — it will not strip fully cured laminate, and that is worth planning around. Nor does it replace every cleaning job: at the shop where we measured consumption, acetone stayed in use for some tasks.
- Bath procedure: dilute 1:20, heat to 40 °C, submerge the parts, add mechanical action (agitation or a brush), remove and let dry
- For surfaces, put the diluted solution on a cloth — same dilution, no heating
- Measured at a customer site: five litres of RST-5 diluted 1:20 replaced 400 litres of acetone a month and cut that workstation's cost to a quarter — the figures are broken down in the case study
- Expect more handling time: the bath took two hours of work a month against one with acetone, and still came out far cheaper
- Clean tools before the resin cross-links — RST-5 will not touch cured laminate
- Solvent-free and with no volatile organic compounds, so no extraction and no flammables storage
- Non-corrosive — safe on sensitive tooling and machine parts; the manufacturer recommends a patch test on delicate surfaces
- Also available as a ready-to-use 500 ml spray and cleaning wipes for quick jobs at the machine
- For continuous tool cleaning we offer 100 and 400 l washing stations (Tools category)
